Refined Concept Statement
People’s reading behavior has been changed by the media on which they read. Digital screens are making people lose their ability to concentrate and make objective judgement. My project works as a representation, and a reflection of this transformation. It will be an integrated, interactive experience of the phenomenon, which could raise people’s awareness and spark their thoughts about reading behavior, judgement and objectivity.
Form
The final prototype will be an interactive installation, which contains a touch-screen cellphone and a projector. Users will be able to read a news article on the cellphone. When someone is interacting with the cellphone, the projector will create an immersive environment in the dark space, which has a content of some fragmented, dynamic texts that come from the article. These texts will move, collide, and gather according to the user’s reading behavior, especially their scrolling speed. I assume that this piece of work would be a part of a new-media exhibition placed in an art and technology museum or a gallery.

Testing Process
1. Test of Look and Feel
In order to explain my idea to the audience, I showed them a mood board of my final prototype. The mood board in this way can be regarded as a look and feel prototype of the final piece. During the testing process, most testers thought this kind of immersive effect is attractive and interesting. However, some of them were confused by the fragmented characters, which will make the whole article hard to read. Meanwhile, some of them said the change of color may cause confusions, too.
2. Test of interaction
Since I'm still working on the coding part, I made a visual prototype as a rough preview of the final visual effect. There will be three stages in total, each stage is based on the scrolling speed of the user.
Testing conclusions (for now)
If it is an experience that allows one user at one time, how to reset the demo every time?
How to connect the phone with the laptop & the projector?
What kind of sound/color effect should I add to the experience?
What would be the result/impact when it reaches to the end?
