To think of "reading" in two dimensions: broadness and depth
physical books provide a vertical and deep reading experience about one certain content, while the Internet and digital media platforms provide a fast-paced, multi-dimensional, highly-summarized reading experience. Each of them has its strengths and weaknesses. However, one person has limited energy and time, which means we need to decide where it should go deeper and where should go broader.
Is an installation/exhibit a good way to raise people's awareness?
It depends on the impact I want. At this stage, the project can be a chrome extension which tells the users how much time they spend on reading news and how carefully do they read. Or it can be a projection installation that translates people's reading behavior into artistic, visual effects.
